Program Specific Outcomes (PSO)
Based on the curriculum provided for the diploma courses and its relevance to the current trends in the field of computer engineering and the specific learning environment of Government Women’s Polytechnic College, Thrissur the following program specific outcomes were framed for the computer engineering department. At the end of programme, Computer Engineering student will be able to
PSO1: Understand the structure and development of software systems and demonstrate adeptness in programming.
PSO2: Apply understanding of basics in hardware and networking appropriately.

Computer Engineering
The Department of Computer Engineering, the youngest of all departments, has recorded a consistent growth since 1987. Today the department has become a full-fledged section with advanced laboratory facilities to train the students and thus able to meet the current needs of the fast changing industrial scenario. The 21 st century is the era of computing. All aspects of human life is promoted and supported by the prominent area of computing such as Computer Science and Engineering. This field of technology deals with the software and hardware components. The curriculum of Diploma in Computer Engineering is designed so as to fulfill the requirement of the society, industry and technology. Computer engineering covers the range from theory and practical application of designing and implementation of products using hardware and software. Computer engineering students study the design of digital hardware systems including communications systems, computers, and embedded systems. They study software development, focusing on software for digital devices and their interfaces with users and other devices. As part of the curriculum of computer engineering, the students of this department undergo a two week industrial training programme in various reputed organizations in the public or private sectors. Also the department has a full-fledged Application Development Lab and a Network Programming Lab where the students can develop live projects including multimedia applications, Operating Systems, Database Applications and web based applications.
